A Note from a Friend
When I was a student at the University of Michigan in the early 1980's (BS
engineering, 1984), I took several classes with Prof Skolimowski. His
teachings have had a tremendous impact on me and I have read many of his
books over the years. I am delighted to see that there is a center for
eco-philosophy, and my check for membership will follow shortly. I have two
daughters (13 and 15) and put together a poem for them for Earth Day.
Virtually all of it comes from Prof Skolimowski's lessons. Here is the
poem:
A Poem for Earth Day 2005
Life is Short.
Art is long.
Time fleeing.
Experience Difficult.
Truth Enticing.
Mother Earth Our Sanctuary.
Reverence for Life Essential.
Frugality an Inner Necessity.
Spirituality and Rationality Harmonious.
Our Planet and Ourselves Must Heal Together.
The Joys of Being are Many.
The Joys of Becoming are Infinite.
