A SONNET ON REDEMPTION
We all expect a redemption
In our brutal times, full of agonies.
But the second Christ is far away
And we only have ourselves as redeemers.
Can I be my own redeemer?
Such a challenge is awesome and almost impossible.
But the cosmic Christ in each of us
Is waiting to be awoken and brought to flowering.
How can I do it, while I am so low and small?
Shake off the dust of your smallness.
Permit yourself to glow with light,
And let this light guide you unremittingly.
Our destiny is shaped by the distant stars.
But it is also determined by our inner light.
